Showcase

Builder Overview

 - things to know before you Begin

Building your Showcase can be done in one online session, or in several sessions. You may do one step at a time, in any sequence, SAVE your work, and return later to finish your Showcase, or complete Steps 1 through 4 online in one sitting.
Here are a few things you'll need to know before you begin. You'll want to read through this page because there are several things you can do upfront that will save you time later.

Be sure to have a professional RESUME prepared in either .pdf or MS Word format. It should be stored in the computer you'll be using to create your Showcase or stored on a memory device that you can access.
Click here for TIPS on resume writing.

You’ll be taking an ASSESSMENT by logging into a website with a userid and password which you’ll be given by the InterviewStudio system. It will take you about 45 minutes and is an exercise that should be done all in one sitting as it is timed. This assessment is a combination of math and word skills, followed by several multiple choice questions about your preferences for work and living styles. You should choose a quiet comfortable place and have a calculator, paper and pencil nearby.
Click here for more information about Assessment Tests.

ENDORSEMENTS is a fun one. Have available a list of people with whom you’ve worked over the years. You’ll need to have their first and last name and email address. These are NOT references, per sé. They are business people who would write a few sentences about you and your capabilities and skills.
Once you fill in their contact information, the InterviewStudio system will send them an email explaining that you are buiding an InterviewStudio Showcase and would appreciate their endorsement.

If you choose to have Video Interview done by a Videographer, you’ll be able to choose a local one on this screen. You’ll contact him/her directly through the InterviewStudio system and set up a time to either go to his studio or for him to come to you. You’ll want to do this in advance since there may be a few days’ wait time until you can coordinate your schedules to get together. The Videographer will know about the InterviewStudio system.

During this Videographer appointment, you will be given about an hour to answer 8 interview questions of your choice from a list we provide. Click here to see Sample Interview Questions. We feel that you will present yourself better if you do not script your answers ahead of time. Just prepare as you normally would for a face-to-face interview with a hiring manager. You wouldn’t know the exact questions he/she will ask, but you always have some idea of the topics, right?

On the other hand, if you’re going to do your own video with a video camera or even a webcam on your computer, you’ll need to have information about that equipment readily available to enter into InterviewStudio for recognition. You’ll have to arrange lighting for the room so that you are presented professionally and have access to a microphone that hooks into your computer. You’ll also need to have high speed internet access so you can log into the InterviewStudio system during the video session.
And of course you’ll need to choose a quiet environment with good sound acoustics.
