Who should use InterviewStudio?
Job Seekers, Recruiters, and Employers.
Job Seekers will want to come to the InterviewStudio site and create a Showcase of themselves and send it out to the Recruiters and Employers of their choice in order to stand out from the crowd.
Recruiting Agencies will want to send an elegant InterviewStudio presentation of a candidate to their Employer clients. Or they might want to structure a custom InterviewStudio account where their Candidates can come to build showcases and their Employer clients can come to watch them. It is a much richer presentation of a candidate than a simple resume.
Employers will want to sign up for an account with InterviewStudio to be able to review Candidate Showcases that are sent in to them in lieu of just resumes. They may also want their own custom InterviewStudio account where Candidates are directed from the employer's career page. When candidates build their Showcases in that employers' InterviewStudio account (by visiting that employer's career page and clicking on their InterviewStudio link button to build them), the employer will automatically receive them and can immediately view them for a particular job opening.
Why should I build a Candidate Showcase?
You never know when the next great opportunity will present itself to you as a candidate. While we all know it is good to have an updated resume prepared for these opportunities, how much better would it be to have your own Showcase ready for send-out at any time to any employer or recruiter?
It takes only a few hours to construct a complete showcase of yourself, including your updated resume, a video interview answering questions you choose from a list, a collection of endorsements from your co-workers and managers, your LinkedIn Profile, the results of a professional online assessment you can take, links to your other documents, blogs, personal websites, portfolios, and preferences you want to share with a future employer.
You can update your showcase at any time through your account dashboard, and soon, you can store several versions of your showcase for different uses.
Who sees my Candidate Showcase once I build it?
If you go directly to the InterviewStudio website and build a Showcase (or Showcases) for yourself, you have total control of it/them. You can choose to keep your showcase private, or send a link out to any employer or recruiter of your choice for viewing. You can also choose to include it in the subscriber database for all InterviewStudio members to see (employers and recruiting companies who maintain InterviewStudio candidate searching status) or for select InterviewStudio members to see (excluding your current employer for instance). You can change your private or public status at any time through your account dashboard.
Is there a specific format my resume needs to be in?
Yes. Currently InterviewStudio accepts resumes in Word (.doc or .docx) or Adobe (.pdf) format.
Can I change my resume once it's uploaded?
Yes, of course. You can delete and reload new versions of your resume as many times as you wish. In the next version of InterviewStudio, you will be able to store several versions of your resume at once and choose which versions will go into which of your Showcases. (You will also be able to store multiple versions of your Showcase for different purposes.)
Do I need to create a cover letter?
No, there is no need to create a cover letter, but you may upload one in the "documents" section of your profile page if you wish. There is also a "brief profile" section on your profile page where you can add any content you wish, such as keywords, or an Objective Statement, or a brief summary of your accomplishments, etc.
Do I have to submit my Showcase to a public database once it's done?
If you go directly to the InterviewStudio website and build a Showcase (or Showcases) for yourself, you have total control of it/them. You can choose to keep your showcase private, and only send a link out to specific employers or recruiters of your choice for viewing.
You can also choose to include it in the subscriber database for all InterviewStudio members to see (employers and recruiting companies who maintain InterviewStudio candidate searching status) or for select InterviewStudio members to see (excluding your current employer for instance). You can change your private or public status at any time through your account dashboard.
Can I restrict my current employer from seeing my Showcase?
As a candidate, you have control over the privacy of your InterviewStudio showcase, which resides on the secure servers owned by InterviewStudio. If you wish to allow viewing capability for your showcase, you would go to your account dashboard and send out your showcase 'link' to an employer or recruiter of your choice, much like you would send a link to a website or document. The recipient would click that link which would allow them to immediately view your showcase. They would need to have access to the internet and Flash 9 installed on their computer. As employers and recruiters are under strict privacy restrictions regarding the sharing of candidate resumes and confidential information, these restrictions apply to your InterviewStudio showcases as well.
If you are concerned that your employer may have an InterviewStudio 'search' account, you can choose to keep your showcase private and not enter it into the member database.
In a future version of InterviewStudio, you will have the capability to block specific domain extensions from viewing your showcase.
Can I send my Showcase to anyone I want?
As a candidate, you have control over your InterviewStudio showcase, which resides on the secure servers controlled by InterviewStudio. If you wish to allow viewing capability for your showcase, you would simply go to your account dashboard and send out your showcase 'link' to an employer or recruiter of your choice, much like you would send a link to a website or document. The recipient would click that link which would allow them to immediately view your showcase on our servers. They will need to have access to the internet, and Flash 9 installed on their computer. Note: You are not actually sending the Flash showcase file itself over the internet, and the recipients do not store your showcase or any files from InterviewStudio.
Can I create more than one Showcase?
Currently, you can build one InterviewStudio showcase in your account. We are working toward a Spring release that will include the capability for you to build up to 5 different InterviewStudio showcases in your account.
How do people view my Showcase?
You can send your showcase to anyone with an email address who has access to the internet, and Flash 9 installed on their computer. When they receive your email, it will have a URL link in your message. The viewer will simply click on that URL and your showcase (located on our secure servers) will open up for viewing.
There are Flash capabilities to your showcase that allow these viewers to stop/pause/start your video interview portion of your showcase, and to spend as much or as little time on the different parts of your showcase as they wish.
In our next release, your account dashboard will include metrics for you that will show you how many viewers opened your showcase on which days and for how long. It will also show you which sections they spent the most time viewing.
Keep in mind that employers and recruiters who view your showcase will have the ability to click a button in your showcase to email you directly while they are viewing your showcase. This is exciting since you will be able to receive immediate feedback.
